Two armies faced each
other silently from across the field, as if waiting for some signal.
Suddenly a warrior in one army began beating his shield:
beat, beat, Beat, Beat, BEAT, BEAT! His fellow fighters
joined in the rhythm, and soon someone began shouting war cries at the
enemy army. As the whole army gave voice to their lack of
fear and readiness to fight, a single voice called "Lay on!"
Without hesitation, the armies surged forward, and the battle
began....
That
is Dagorhir. Becoming someone else for a while; swinging a
sword at creatures that never existed; fighting with a weapon in both
hands. Being part of something that most people will only
ever read about or see in movies. That is the addicting
element that brings fighters from all over the United States.
That is the reason that otherwise sane people spend their
time and money on equipment and weapons that have no practical use.
Dagorhir is a sport, a role-playing game, and a way to escape
from the pressures of mundane life.
My
name is Aethelfled, Lance-Corporal and founder of the
Western Guard. While I will spare you my life story, I will
tell you a bit about myself. I am a member of the Guard,
but, living far from my unit, I decided that I needed to start a
sub-unit closer to home. Thus, I am now looking for anyone
interested in participating in a Dagorhir unit in Eastern Iowa.
It will function almost exactly like the Guard, and people who
are smarter than me have explained how it all works on the Guard website.

note that this site is still under construction. If you have
